The 2nd annual
"MAGIC LANTERN INTERNATIONAL MOVIE FESTIVAL"
May 2nd through May 10th, 2008

The Magic Lantern International Movie Festival welcomes the opportunity to showcase movies from local, regional, and international communities. The program links cultural activities of Tioga and Broome Counties in upstate New York as regional neighbors and with the world, creating a connection of identity, exposure, and enrichment with that of the global community.

The contest is open to all movie makers everywhere. Movies will be accepted with one, five, or twenty minute time limits. Movies featured will be by student, amateur, independent, and professional movie makers, and will be chosen from the categories of: comedy, story, mystery, travel, music video, drama, documentary, tragedy, instructional, nature, animation, experimental, event, family, or other specification.

So, if you are a fan of new cinema, join us May 2nd through the 4th at the Waverly Opera House and May 10th at the Art Mission & Theater.
We hope to see you there!

Locations:
The 2nd annual Magic Lantern Festival will take place at the Waverly Opera House on the first weekend of May 2008 with a schedule of activities on Friday through Sunday. A second showing will take place a week later at the Art Mission & Theater in Binghamton, NY. Each venue will offer something unique while tying together the focus of international movies.

The Waverly Opera House offers an old-fashioned parlor setting in a small town and the Art Mission & Theater offers a contemporary modern facility in a city environment. The festival, which premiered in August 2007, was moved to the spring in 2008.

WAVERLY OPERA HOUSE
Waverly Opera House A visit to the Waverly Opera House is like visiting an old-fashioned parlor. Known as the "cultural center of the valley," cushy chairs, odds-n-ends antiques, and a warm-hearted artistic visionary, Ron Nogar, owner of WOH, make this place an inviting destination. The Waverly Opera House is home to the Waverly Opera House, Ltd., Add-which presents theatrical productions. For more information, visit www.waverlyoperahouse.org.

THE ART MISSION & THEATER
ART Mission and Theater The ART Mission is a not-for-profit downtown community art space supporting contemporary artists working in the visual arts. Our mission is to foster creativity and art excellence; provide exhibition space to new and established artists; provide programs and activities that encourage public awareness, participation, and appreciation of the visual arts and to serve as a catalyst for small city revitalization via the arts.

The ART Mission is a not-for-profit downtown community art space supporting contemporary artists working in the visual arts, and a program of independent film in our theaters. We are located in a 100-year old building that was once a railroad hotel, now home to our gallery, two theaters and 3 floors of loft apartments, in the heart of the urban revival called the Railroad District. The Theaters at the ART Mission opened in Spring 2007. We will provide the best in independent, culturally significant, experimental and foreign language films to our audience. For more information, visit: www.artmission.org
